Build Your Own Home follows the trials and tribulations of homeowners from across Ireland as they take on the mammoth challenge of building their own homes—under the watchful eye of master builder and building instructor, Harrison Gardner.
The new series will feature:
- The restoration of a 200-year-old farmhouse in Co. Westmeath,
- The transformation of a Limerick parochial house back to its former glory,
- A major renovation of a derelict cottage in rural Sligo,
- A modern extension onto an existing home in Co. Galway, and
- The renovation of two adjoining family stone cottages to include a timber-frame extension for office space in Co. Cavan
Each episode has one thing in common—no building experience and very tight budgets.
As the initial excitement of a new project inevitably fades, these brave self-builders still need to work, pay rent, mind kids, and... build a house.
No one said it was going to be easy, as Harrison reminded them from the start.
Over days, weeks, and months of hard labour, the homeowners are taught and mentored by Harrison, who believes that anyone can learn how to build.
