MONDAY - FRIDAY, 7-8PM

Arena is the home of Arts and Culture on RTÉ and flagship programme for film, TV, and literature coverage.

Broadcasting live from 7pm-8pm on RTÉ Radio 1 Arena is the only dedicated daily arts and culture show on Irish radio.

Hosted by Seán Rocks, the show reaches an audience of 47,000 representing 45% growth in the past five years.

Recent show guests include;

  • Oscar winners Cillian Murphy, Penélope Cruz, Tilda Swinton, Jesse Buckley, Saoirse Ronan, Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson.
  • Booker Prize winners Anne Enright and Paul Lynch.
  • Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro and Dublin Literary Award winners Colm Toibín and Kevin Barry.
  • Grammy winners Alison Krauss and Rhiannon Giddens.

Scheduled live outside broadcasts;

  • July: Galway International Film Festival - 2 x Outside Broadcasts.
  • September: Arena Culture Night Special show, live from historic Studio 1 in RTÉ Radio Centre.
  • October: The Poems of Seamus Heaney - special live Outside Broadcasts to mark landmark publication
  • October: Frances Mc Manus Short Story Awards.
  • November: Dublin Book Festival
  • January 2026: Trad Fest 2026 - 2 outside broadcasts scheduled
