Tara Campbell appointed as Head of RTÉ Radio 1

RTÉ is pleased to announce the appointment of Tara Campbell as Head of RTÉ Radio 1 following a public competition.

In this strategically important role Tara will have overall responsibility for the editorial leadership and programming of RTÉ Radio 1 and will play a critical role in the delivery of RTÉ's five-year strategy, 2025 - 2029.

Tara Campbell has been Managing Editor of the station for the past five years, Tara, who hails from Castleblayney in County Monaghan started her career in RTÉ as a freelance continuity announcer on Radio One before becoming a producer on many of the most listened to programmes on the station including the series producer role on Today with Sean O'Rourke.

Speaking about Tara's appointment RTÉ's Director of Audio, Patricia Monahan said: "RTÉ Radio 1 plays a significant role in Ireland and is an important part of RTÉs overall portfolio. I look forward to working with Tara to develop our output so that RTÉ Radio 1 continues to be the leading choice for audiences for many generations to come. Tara brings a wealth of editorial and leadership experience to this role, and I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate her on her appointment."

Tara will take up her role with immediate effect.
