New to the RTÉ Player in April

April sees some acquired and home-grown hits going live on the RTÉ Player.

Pure Mule

 

Winner of five 2005 Irish Film & Television Academy awards Pure Mule is set in contemporary, rural Ireland; it’s a midlands market town, unnamed, but utterly familiar. By times sexy, violent, comical and elegiac, the series expressed the frailty and longing that is at the heart of each booze-fuelled weekend. 

 

Paths to Freedom

 

This mocumentary staring Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey) as two men who have both recently been released from a Dublin prison. The fly-on-the-wall style show follows these two characters from radically different backgrounds as they try to reintegrate back into society.

 

Home of the Year

 

Coinciding with the new series of Home of the Year, Series One and Series Two are coming back to the RTÉ Player in April. Revisit the homes that first championed individuality, creativity and commitment to design. The show features homeowners around Ireland who have done something special to the place they call home.

 

Francis Brennan's Grand Tour

 

Three of Francis Brennan's adventures are coming to the RTÉ Player as the eccentric hotelier guides sixteen Irish tourists around India, South Africa and Vietnam. In each series, it’s down to Francis to make sure his tourists get the holiday of a lifetime and he has to ensure everything goes according to plan; organising check-ins, meals, excursions, etc.

 

Daniel and Majella's B&B Roadtrip

 

Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip hit the road in very successful first series and they're back on the RTÉ Player as a number of B&B owners get a visit from the ever popular Daniel and Majella O'Donnell. One of the highlights from this series was Anne Sheerin who became an internet sensation following her emotional reaction to Daniel and Majella’s arrival to her B&B.

 

13 Billion Light Years from Birr

 

This fascinating documentary shows Ireland's important part in astronomical. 13 Billion Light Years From Birr follows the construction of the I-LOFAR telescope on the grounds of Birr Castle, which, once completed, will be the most westerly part of a network stretching from Ireland to the town of Bałdy, in eastern Poland, composed of six partner countries and 50 antenna stations spread across the continent.
