RTÉ's Washington Correspondent Sean Whelan will provide comprehensive coverage and breaking news across RTÉ News services, with live reports, interviews and analysis on all platforms.
The RTÉ News app and RTE.ie will host a live tracker through the night featuring breaking news and results of votes from across the US along with coverage of all the developments plus updates on RTÉ News' social media accounts.
RTÉ Prime Time has been reporting from the key swing state of Pennsylvania in the run up to voting. Reporter Louise Byrne is travelling across Pennsylvania looking at the issues for voters and the measures that have been put in place over the last four years to protect the integrity of the ballot.
As voters go to the polls on November 5th, Miriam O 'Callaghan will co-present a special Prime Time programme live in Washington, as she is joined by a panel of experts both independent and partisan, bringing viewers the first early results.
RTÉ One television will broadcast a US Presidential Election Special programme from 11.20pm on Tuesday continuing late into the night. Presented by Miriam O'Callaghan in Washington and David McCullagh in Dublin, they will be joined by a range of guests to bring viewers live results, analysis and reaction along with regular updates from colleagues in CBS News. Live television coverage will continue with the simulcast of CBS News: US Presidential Election coverage from 3.30am - 7.00am on RTÉ One and RTE Player.
On RTÉ Radio 1 there will be an extended Late Debate from 10pm until 1am as presenter Colm Ó Mongáin talks to reporters from right across America on the latest developments in their states. RTÉ Radio 1 reporter Una Kelly will join the programme live from the swing state of Michigan as the results come in.
On Wednesday morning, 6th November, a special Morning Ireland beginning at the earlier time of 6am with presenters Audrey Carville in Washington and Cian McCormack in Dublin, will bring listeners the latest overnight results and indications for Irish audiences. More detailed analysis will follow across the day on RTÉ Radio 1 with Today with Claire Byrne, News at One with Rachael English, and Drivetime with Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra.
RTÉ’s flagship Six One News will be co-presented live from Washington DC on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th November as presenter Sharon Tobin brings Irish viewers all the latest news on polling day and the reaction on the ground following this historic election.
RTÉ Raidío na Gaeltachta's Máirín Ní Ghadhra will be reporting live from New York with analysis of all that is happening on the station's current affairs programmes Adhmhaidin, Nuacht a hAon and Tús Áite, from before votes are cast on Monday November 4th until well after the results are digested on Thursday November 7th. In addition, Donncha Ó Murchú from Nuacht RTÉ/TG4 will be gathering the thoughts of the Irish diaspora regarding the US Election, which will also feature across RTÉ Radio na Gaeltachta’s current affairs programmes.
