Culture Night on RTÉ 2024 – One night for all

RTÉ once again proudly supports the Art’s Council’s Culture Night, broadcasting live across radio, television and online from multiple regional venues from 7pm on Friday 20th  September.

Culture Night 2024  | RTÉ One & RTÉ Player | ‘RTÉ celebrates Culture Night’ 

RTÉ One and RTÉ Player will broadcast a music and arts extravaganza, ‘RTÉ Celebrates Culture Night’, featuring the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with special guests, culminating in an exciting mix of cutting-edge arts and traditional performance with a contemporary twist. The programme will also feature artists such as Villagers, Joe Chester and Gemma Hayes.

A highlight will be a recording of David Gray and Colm Mac an Iomaire performing on Sceilg Mhichíl.

RADIO

Arena | RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ Radio Player 

RTÉ Radio 1 will broadcast a Culture Night special outside-broadcast with live music, chat and performance on Arena live from the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray.

RTÉ 2fm RISING on Culture Night | RTÉ 2fm and RTÉ Radio Player

Join RTÉ 2FM for an unmissable night of live music in the Róisín Dubh Galway with a selection of some of the most exciting Irish music acts from 2FM Rising, including Big Sleep, Chubby Cat, Brad Heidi and more to be announced, with 2FM’s The Tracy Clifford Show live from Galway, teeing up Beta Da Silva who will host a 3-hour live broadcast, bringing you all the action live from the event.

 

Ambient Orbit | RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ Radio Player

RTÉ lyric fm’s Ambient Orbit will present a live event on Culture Night at Trinity College, Dublin in partnership with the Douglas Hyde Gallery. With a mix of field recordings, ambient music, live musical performances from Rachael Lavelle & Ryan Hargadon, Seamus Hyland and Kim V. Porcelli, and bespoke visuals from Tadhg O’Sullivan, this will be an open event right in the heart of Dublin on Culture Night – a space for attendees to take time to immerse into music and environmental sound and imagery. Ambient Orbit offers a calm oasis within Culture Night – one of the busiest days of the year in the cities and towns of Ireland.

Visuals 

Filmmaker and sound designer Tadhg O’Sullivan will create a montage of visuals, using landscape images from around Ireland to complement the mix of music and field recordings both conceptually and aesthetically.
