RTÉ today announces its exciting upcoming slate of video content, taking viewers from Autumn 2025 to Spring 2026 across RTÉ One, RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player. From an unprecedented offering of brand-new home-grown dramas, to ground-breaking documentaries chronicling remarkable Irish lives, an abundance of upcoming free-to-air sport for the nation to rally behind, and uniquely Irish kids content, RTÉ’s upcoming schedule of programming is one which reflects a modern-day Ireland, a changing society, and the underlying pride that unites us all through news, sport, art and culture and entertainment.
As Ireland’s national public service media, RTÉ continues to expand on its commitment to provide audiences with distinctive Irish content that informs, entertains and celebrates life in Ireland.
With key events including the upcoming Presidential Election, as well as RTÉ celebrating its centenary in 2026, RTÉ will provide unique, up-to-date, informative and distinctive programming across a wide range of genres as béarla agus as gaeilge.
- Viewers will be entertained across the schedule, kicking off next weekend with The Traitors Ireland.
- An unprecedented slate of Irish drama series, in collaboration with the independent production sector, will include three brand new series: The Walsh Sisters, These Sacred Vows, and Tall Tales & Murder, and returning series The Dry, with performances from rising stars including Ella Lily Highland and India Mullen, as well as Tom Vaughan Lawlor, Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds.
- A re-vamped Ireland’s Fittest Family will feature three new well-known and competitive sports mentors – Ellen Keane, Michael Darragh Macauley and Andrew Trimble.
- RTÉ will provide unrivalled free-to-air sport including the World Athletics Championships, the Women’s Rugby World Cup, and the Autumn Nations Series.

- Following on from the groundbreaking investigations into Irish private nursing homes, the Christian Brothers’ wealth and assets, and the black-market sales of weight loss drugs, the award-winning RTÉ Investigates team will continue to deliver public service broadcasting at its very best in new and revealing documentaries.
- RTÉ will offer a range of in-depth and uniquely Irish factual and documentary series including The Ryanair Story, venturing behind-the-scenes at one of the world’s most successful airlines, and new true-crime series Swindlers.
- Reflecting modern-Irish society, RTÉ’s slate of new programming will explore healthcare in The Shift: Cork University Hospital, housing challenges in Who’s Building Ireland?, Home Rescue: The Big Fix, and Cheap Irish Homes and will look at the experiences of the new Irish in Caesar’s Palace.

The Traitors Ireland will officially premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday, 31 August. Siobhán McSweeney as host will charge into chaos, suspicion and stylish skulduggery. Each day, the group of 24 hopefuls embark on Missions as they work together to add more money to the potential prize pot of €50,000. Shot on the banks of the Boyne in Slane Castle, this spine-tingling new adaptation of the global phenomenon brings suspicion, strategy and sabotage to Irish soil. The Traitors Ireland will air on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays at 9:35pm.
Companion series The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, presented by Kevin McGahern, will broadcast from Limerick, and is set to be the ultimate post-show destination for fans across Ireland. Filmed in RTÉ Limerick, each episode will feature an exclusive interview with the banished or murdered player as well as bonus unseen footage.
Sunday evening family favourite Ireland’s Fittest Family features some brand-new coaches this year, with Ellen Keane, Michael Darragh MacAuley, and Andrew Trimble coaching families who will go up against veteran coaches Davy Fitzgerald, Anna Geary and Donncha O’Callaghan and their super-fit contestants in a newly revamped series, with Laura Fox presenting.
The new season of The Late Late Show kicks off on Friday 12 September hosted by Patrick Kielty. This season also marks ten years of audience favourite The Late Late Country Music Special. The biggest night in Irish television, the phenomenon that is The Late Late Toy Show was beamed into 1.6 million homes in Ireland in 2024 and had a record-breaking 622,000 streams in 139 countries globally. The RTÉ Toy Show Appeal raised €4.9 million in 2024.
Series three of comedy entertainment series The 2 Johnnies’ Late Night Lock-In celebrates the very best of all things Irish, bringing craic agus ceoil from Johnny B and Johnny Smacks. January also sees Tommy Tiernan back in the hotseat with a brand-new line-up of top-secret guests for The Tommy Tiernan Show, now in its 10th season.
In a new series of The End of the World with Beanz, Martin Beanz Ward takes a selection of well-known faces including Samantha Mumba and Enya Martin out of their comfort zones and into the unknown. Dermot Bannon’s Celebrity Super Spaces steps into the unique homes of familiar faces including Clodagh McKenna and Joanne McNally’s residences in the UK.
Culture Night 2025 will be celebrated live from Galway with a mix of performances and events from across the city showcasing the energy and diversity of cultural activity on offer nationwide. In a new six-part series, Imelda May – Amhráin na nGael, the singer and actor embarks on an exploratory and emotional journey across Ireland’s Gaeltacht regions as she challenges her relationship with the Irish language through songs and sean-nós singing. In two one-hour specials, RTÉ Cláracha Gaeilge’s much-loved Cloch le Carn series looks back at the life and legacies of beloved comedian and performer Jon Kenny and politician Mary O’Rourke. In Seisiún, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh plays host to the cream of much-loved Irish and international talent in four iconic family run live music venues.
The First Dates restaurant sees a new batch of hopeful singletons try their luck, with Maitre D’ Mateo Sania on hand with Alice, Pete and barman Neil. Now in its 14th season, Today returns in the afternoons live from RTÉ Cork with an eclectic mix of food, fashion and entertainment.
Coming soon on RTÉ Player, comedy favourite Motherland lands on 1 September, followed by the full boxset of Amandaland on 4 September. September also brings binge-worthy boxsets including Lioness. Fans of reality drama can dive into The Traitors Season 2 across the UK, Australia, and the US all landing on RTÉ Player on 23 September, just after The Traitors Ireland reaches its dramatic conclusion.

This year RTÉ announced an unprecedented drama slate, with 142 hours of original homegrown productions, placing great local drama on the national and international stage, in association with several national and international co-production partners. The results of this significant level of original RTÉ drama production and investment in Irish talent, culture and the broader creative economy, are set to hit our screens this Autumn and into 2026 with a slate of brand-new, ongoing and returning drama offerings.
Brand-new drama The Walsh Sisters is an adaptation by Stefanie Preissner and Keft Chadwick of Marian Keyes’ books Rachel’s Holiday and Anybody Out There. Coming first to RTÉ and starring Danielle Galligan, Louisa Harland, Caroline Menton, Aidan Quinn and Carrie Crowley, Preissner also appears as one of the sisters in the series. Set in Dublin, the series follows the siblings as they navigate the peaks and troughs of their late 20s and 30s.
Fair City sets the tone for high-stakes drama this September. Erica and Doug are all set to say “I do” in what promises to be one of Carrigstown’s most unforgettable weddings. With emotions running high and the community waiting with anticipation, pre-wedding jitters ripple beneath the surface. But just as the happy couple step into the spotlight, a crash-bang twist steals the show, leaving one Carrigstown favourite fighting for their life and two families reeling from the fallout. With emotions raw and futures uncertain, Fair City delivers must-watch drama that will have viewers on the edge of their seat.
Series three of The Dry sees the Sheridans unearth a huge family secret that throws them all off kilter. Written by Nancy Harris, and starring Roisin Gallagher, Siobhán Cullen, Moe Dunford and Ciarán Hinds. Siobhán Cullen also stars in series two of Obituary, in which she plays Elvira, an obituary writer who seeks relief in killing, but now finds herself beaten to the act by a new murderer in town.
In Hidden Assets, investigative reporter Olatz Alzola and her family are attacked by a lone gunman in Bilbao, and only her young daughter survives. In Dublin, DS Claire Wallace (Nora-Jane Noone) deals with the fallout when the death of Portfolio Manager, Nick Heaslip, during a CAB raid, shatters the lives of his wife, Alice (Rebecca O’Meara) and her sister Dr. Niamh Bennett (Catherine Walker).
Brand-new comedy drama These Sacred Vows, is written and directed by John Butler, and stars Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Justine Mitchell, India Mullen and Jason O’Mara. The series is set in the week building up to an Irish wedding in Tenerife, where all the guests have secrets...and those who don’t, will soon have some.
Co-commissioned by RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland, the brand-new darkly comedic drama Tall Tales & Murder is written by Love/Hate creator Stuart Carolan and co-created with BAFTA, EMMY and Directors Guild of America Award winner Chris Addison (Veep, Breeders, The Thick of It), and stars Ella Lily Hyland, Aidan Gillen, Philippa Dunne and Packy Lee. The story is based on the much loved eight-book Dublin Trilogy by Caimh McDonnell.
The second series of SisterS picks up in Dublin, eighteen months after Sare (Sarah Goldberg) abandoned her sister Suze (Susan Stanley), who has just discovered she can’t have the biological child she has figured out she wants.
RTÉ's upcoming Storyland series increases from three to four dramas this season, with one drama as gaeilge for the very first time. Storyland establishes a pipeline for new talent, helping to springboard actors, writers, and directors into international careers, as well as RTÉ dramas. Tall Tales & Murder lead Ella Lyly Hyland starred in Storyland's Wrapped in 2022, Robert Sheehan returned to RTÉ to play the lead in Blindboy Boatclub's Did You Read About Erskine Fogarty?. Behind the camera, Mia Mullarkey, who directed Wrapped for Storyland has directed two upcoming episodes of Hidden Assets. Further details on Storyland will be announced shortly.

With Ireland targeting 300,000 new homes by 2030, Who’s Building Ireland? goes behind the scenes of the nation's construction boom to meet the real people making it happen. From crane operators and family-run trades, to migrant workers and apprentices, the documentary reveals the human stories driving one of the country's most critical industries. DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland fronted by Baz Ashmawy, takes on challenges in Mooncoin, Kilkenny, Clarecastle, Clare, Tallaght, Dublin and Wicklow Town, where volunteer builders, labourers, trades, suppliers, friends and neighbours come together - giving their time, labour and materials free gratis - to help families in real need.
RTÉ gets behind the stories of some of the nation’s most remarkable real Irish lives, real Irish success stories, real Irish industries, and real Irish struggles, with a large variety of new upcoming factual and documentary programming.
The Employables is a new three-part series following the experiences of six jobseekers with disabilities, supported by Brendan O’Connor and a host of mentors, advocates, and allies seeking to fulfil their full potential. With real honesty, and by challenging some uncomfortable truths, the group sets out to prove that they have something equally important to bring to the job market and that inclusion benefits the entire workforce.
In The Shift: Cork University Hospital viewers are taken behind the scenes at one of Ireland’s biggest and busiest hospitals – CUH – for a new series filmed over the course of six months. In Dolphins: Wonders of the Ocean, underwater cameraman Ken O'Sullivan brings us on his 20-year journey with dolphins, beginning with an encounter with a lone, lost dolphin in his home place in Clare and ultimately to freediving and filming enormous pods of dolphins in the open North Atlantic Ocean.
The Ryanair Story is a two-part series documenting the 40-year history of Ryanair’s ascent from offering one single route, to becoming a giant of world aviation. The lives and crimes of some of Ireland’s most renowned con-artists and white-collar criminals are documented in Swindlers, a three-part true crime series as told through the voices of the victims of these scammers.
Tony Cascarino:Extra Time documents the story of Tony Cascarino, the former hairdresser from Kent, who went from once being transferred for a set of tracksuits, to becoming an Irish footballing hero. One-off documentary Caesar’s Palace will explore the experience of the new Irish of African origin through the medium of hair – with access to salons, those working in them, and the customers who frequent them, viewers will get to know some fascinating characters.
Testimony follows survivors of Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes in their fight for justice. In The Case I Can't Forget, detectives share every twist and turn of standout investigations that shaped their careers. Series 5 airs in early 2026, with four brand-new and gripping cases, including the inquiry into the capital murder of Garda Adrian Donohoe, in which Irish detectives worked with the NYPD in an undercover operation to apprehend cop killer Aaron Brady in New York.
Daniel O’Connell: The Emancipator is an hour-long documentary exploring the life and legacy of Daniel O’Connell to mark the 250th anniversary of his birth in 2025. The documentary, produced in association with University College Cork and Notre Dame University, examines how O’Connell’s achievements continue to shape and impact our world today. Ahead of the release of the records of the 1926 census, Come to Your Census is a two-part documentary series that invites viewers to step back in time to explore Ireland’s past through the first national census taken after independence. David McCullagh examines the life and legacy of Éamon de Valera in Dev’s Rise and Rule, a two-part documentary series marking the 50th anniversary of the death of “The Chief”, and asks whether we are still living in de Valera’s Ireland? Patrick Duffy’s Irish Pubs sees famed Dallas actor Duffy travelling across Ireland to see how Irish bars and pub culture has evolved over the years.
Trackers: The People vs The Banks is a two-part series that goes behind the headlines to tell the real story of Ireland's tracker mortgage scandal through the eyes of those most affected. Rory: How The Masters was Won looks at Rory McIlroy’s long-awaited victory at the 2025 U.S. Masters. The film provides a raw, intimate portrait of the emotional evolution behind one of the most significant victories in Irish sport.
Dance Master offers an insightful portrait of Breandán de Gallaí, tracing his evolution from traditional dancer to choreographer unafraid to challenge convention. Meat Loaf: Rock Bottom in Ireland brings viewers back to Ireland in 1990, when the legendary US rock star performed in some of the country's most unlikely venues during what was a chaotic two-week journey through Ireland’s heartland. Tommy Sands Clann an Cheoil is a new celebratory and insightful documentary which looks at one of Ireland’s most successful and influential folk singer songwriters and how he and his family have acquired an international legacy as musicians, social activists and storytellers.
Made of Stone: with Indiana Stones follows Indiana Stones, aka David Keohan, as he goes around the country finding and lifting Ireland's ancient lifting stones, along the way uncovering a forgotten culture and lost history. Donal’s Festival Kitchen sees the chef immerse himself in the culture, traditions and beliefs of Ireland’s minority faiths as he invites top chefs and personalities from those communities to prepare and share dishes from their main festivals. All That Remains is a documentary headed up by Niall Breslin, who embarks on an emotional quest to restore the identity and dignity of the people who lived and died at St Loman’s Mental Hospital, Mullingar.
The Money List – the ultimate play along, high stakes quiz presented by Baz Ashmawy – returns with two teams of complete strangers who must join forces to win. For season 5 of Keys to my Life, Brendan Courtney travels back in time with Jim Sheridan, Gloria Hunniford, Donal Óg Cusack, Ronan Collins, Niamh Kavanagh, Tom Dunne, Sandy Kelly and Tony Holohan through the homes that shaped their lives.
The second series of On the Beat returns to delve into the massive challenges being faced by An Garda Síochána across Ireland, capturing the realities of policing urban and rural Ireland.

Futureville Ireland returns to mark National Science Week in November 2025. Showkids is a brand-new star-studded comedy drama series hitting screens this September. Starring Philippa Dunne, Killian Sunderman, Ardal O'Hanlon and introducing Flynn Grey as Sam, Showkids is a comedy series for the whole family.
RTÉ Kids Drama Week is a captivating collection of five children’s short dramas from Ireland and around the world, exploring themes of friendship, family identity and self-discovery. From Naomi’s unexpected alien adventure in rural Ireland in Glitch, to Caspar’s clever challenge to school uniform rules in Boys Will Be Boys, Nina’s struggle between family expectations and her passion for drumming in Serbia’s Nina’s Rhythm, Polly’s test of loyalty and courage in Scotland in Two Peas in a Pod and Katerina’s magical escape into history in Cyprus with Ekaterini, the series celebrates the challenges and triumphs of growing up, encouraging kids to embrace who they are and find their place in the world.
