The best piece of advice I was ever given…

No matter what happens, you always have control over how you react. Things will only be stressful if you let them be.

What was your first job?

I worked in a quantity surveyors doing filing for a summer when I was sixteen. It was exactly as boring as it sounds.

The best part of my job is…

Working with smart and creative colleagues. I'm writing this during Covid-19 and realising what a difference it makes being surrounded by good people.

The most rewarding part of my job is…

Being involved in every aspect of a marketing campaign or project. It's great and really satisfying to see a project come off that I've had a part in every stage of.

Digital detox - yay or nay?

Yay! I love technology but I always take a day at the weekend to get out into nature and switch off.

The one electronic device I couldn’t live without is…

My phone, I use it for almost everything: entertainment, information and keeping up with friends and family.

What was the last book you read?

Beloved by Toni Morrison. She died in August last year and is an amazing author, with Beloved being one of her best-known novels. I loved it and have been recommending it to everyone.

Which two organizations outside your own do you know the most people at and why?

I don't have much direct contact with our customers or clients but having said that, I would know plenty of people in Core. I still keep in touch with my old colleagues from ITV and Channel 4 too.

How do you define success?

I want to be happy and proud of the work I produce. I'm glad that I get both of those working in RTÉ.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Working in RTÉ you see plenty of famous faces floating around, Martys Whelan and Morissey being personal highlights.

What's your favourite app?

The Apple podcast app, I probably use that most. I'm also a big fan of LumaFusion, a video editing software for iOS.

What is your favourite brand and why?

Barry's tea. Not the most sophisticated but I love a cuppa.

Tell us something interesting that people may not know about you?

I was in a comedy sketch group and brought two shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We promoted ourselves by standing on the royal mile in our underpants... Not something I'm proud of.

What or who are you a ‘closet’ fan of?

Carly Rae Jepsen is genuinely my favourite artist... and I will not apologise for that!
